DEB ZIMMERMANN, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN

Deb is an experienced chief nursing officer and nurse practitioner who served in executive positions in New York and Virginia. She led teams which reduced mortality, decreased hospital acquired infections, improved access,  and reduced lost employee workdays caused by workplace violence.
Most recently, Deb worked with  community leaders on equitable access and education on COVID-19 vaccine. She served as lead investigator on a national grant highlighting and disseminating sustainable healthcare innovations introduced during the pandemic. 
Deb serves on the national boards of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and the DAISY Foundation. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, and a member of the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps. Her passion is the creation of collaborative interprofessional care models and expanding the contribution of nurses in improving health outcomes. A leader who believes nursing can positively impact the health of the nation.

MARY COFFEY, PHD, MPH, RN, NEA-BC

Mary is an experienced leader, nurse scientist and clinician with a demonstrated history of enhancing teamwork, improving clinical performance, augmenting relational connections, creating healthy work environments, and reducing workplace violence within complex clinical settings.  

During her 30-year career she empowered interprofessional networks of clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and entrepreneurs in the transformation of health care. She is a published leader in the design, development, and management of comprehensive care systems across the care continuum.

Mary is expert in the creation of professional practice models and the role of nursing in the achievement of health equity, inclusion, and a culture of health for all.

MARIA CURRAN, MS

Maria is an executive with thirty years of experience leading complex and dynamic health systems. As the Chief Human Resources Officer and Vice President of Community Impact at VCU Health, Maria implemented family friendly, employee focused benefits programs which led to sustained improvements in the recruitment, retention, and engagement of high performing teams.  Under her leadership, VCU Health received numerous national and regional Employer of Choice awards. Three NAEYC accredited childcare centers, a day program for frail seniors, the Department of Volunteer Services and Employee Health services grew exponentially during Maria’s tenure and with her leadership, reduced costs while improving outcomes. As Chief Experience Officer, Maria focused on patient as well as employee and provider engagement.


For over many years, Maria served on the faculty at the VCU College of Health Professions teaching a course in human resource administration to future healthcare leaders. Maria has a Master of Arts from the University of Virginia with a focus on organizational development and statistics. Her undergraduate degree is from Rollins College. Maria is an active member of multiple boards of directors and has served as the chair of the Chief Human Resource as well as the Chief Experience Officer councils of Vizient.
